CAMALEONTE, THE ROSÉ WINE FROM MARSALA
Share
Camaleonte is the new wine from the Ferracane winery, with a name that says it all and a winking label. Camaleonte is the rosé table wine that was missing, the 2020 novelty: a blend of all Fabio's wines , both white and red.
HOW IS THE CHAMELEON MADE?
Fabio created Camaleonte by putting together what remains from each of his wines. Camaleonte is therefore composed of four grape varieties: Catarratto, Grillo, Nero d'Avola and Merlot.
The question arises: “What happened to the remaining wines until last year?” They were consumed by the Ferracane family and given as gifts to friends. Fabio, however, always has some project in mind and this year he has decided to include this rosé wine among his wines. But why did he call it that?
THE CHANGING WINE
The Camaleonte will change every year, since its composition depends each year on the yield of the individual grapes and therefore on the quantity of the individual wines that compose it. It is a wine designed to be changeable , to adapt to each vintage, both in appearance and flavor.
In its first edition, the Camaleonte is a rosé wine with a rather dark colour, due to the greater presence of Merlot and Catarratto, with a rounded flavour and well-balanced acidity.
The wine contains a total of 17 mg/l of sulfites. This year only 398 bottles were produced. Next year, who knows!
THE LABEL OF THE NEW ROSÉ TABLE WINE
The label is actually a whole program. Instead of putting an illustration of a chameleon, Fabio put his face on it. He feels a bit chameleonic, in the sense of adaptable and extroverted, creative and determined. Once he has a project in his head, he carries it through with enthusiasm.
On the back label, as with all his wines, Fabio has inserted an evocative phrase, which explains to anyone who drinks it the meaning this wine has for him.
What about the occasions in which to drink the Camaleonte? Rosé wines have been in the limelight for a few years and are appreciated by an increasingly wider audience, which perhaps previously snubbed them.
Camaleonte is a rosé wine that you can drink in all seasons and throughout the meal , from aperitif to main course. Better with fish-based dishes, even with tomatoes, white meats or pizza.
