VINITALY 2017, EN. FABIO FERRACANE AWARDED THE PRIZE “WINE AND OIL, THE BET OF THE FUTURE, THE BEST START-UPS”

Organized by the Region of Sicily and conceived by the newspaper “Cronache di gusto”, the award is dedicated to young Sicilian entrepreneurs who have invested their energies in the Sicilian territory. The Councilor for Agriculture Antonello Cracolici: “These young people are proof that there is a future here.” The Mayor of Marsala Alberto Di Girolamo: “There are many job opportunities in Marsala, you have to believe in it!”

Yesterday morning at Pavilion 2 Palcoscenico Sicilia at Vinitaly in Verona, the Regional Councilor for Agriculture, Antonello Cracolici, presented the winemaker Fabio Ferracane, winemaker and owner of the Casa Vinicola Ferracane in Marsala, with the award created by the editorial staff of the food and wine magazine “Cronache di Gusto” and dedicated to young Sicilian entrepreneurs who have invested their energy in the Sicilian territory in order to enhance it. The award was assigned as part of the event “Wine and oil, the bet of the future. An award for the island's start-ups.” and opened the day of meetings also dedicated to the presentation of the Marsala Wine Museum. In addition to the Regional Councilor for Agriculture, Antonello Cracolici, the mayor of Marsala, Alberto Di Girolamo, the President of Irvo, Dr. Marcello Giacone, and the journalists of Cronache di Gusto were also present at the award ceremony.

“A more appropriate choice could not have been made here at Vinitaly – began the Hon. Cracolici introducing the event – ​​namely the choice to open this edition of Vinitaly with the future – Agriculture and wine production as well as olive oil production are the symbols of a changing Sicily. Thanks to these products, we bring Sicily to places that in the past were only known through geographical maps, today many citizens of the world taste Sicily recognizing in many products the specialty of the territory. And he added referring to the importance of recognizing the merits of those who invest in our territory: – Today I want to thank and reward these young people who are starting their business activity, I want to thank them because they are the proof that there is a future here. Today, those who invest in this segment are aware that this can give prestige because the beauty of work is also that of having the possibility of realizing one's desires, one's dreams, one's vision. Those who are investing in this sector are doing so with this approach, with this idea, with this love, precisely because the activity agriculture is first and foremost a great passion that strikes you and overwhelms you. And he concluded: – I wish you all the best that this morning’s award ceremony will be a harbinger of young entrepreneurs who, as they grow older, will increasingly become successful entrepreneurs.”

Fabio Ferracane, the first among the young wine entrepreneurs to be awarded, wanted to thank everyone present but above all the land to which he decided to return after various experiences spent abroad as an oenologist, a land in which he is investing his future with passion and sacrifice: - Thanks to everyone, to Cronache di Gusto, to Sicily, but also and above all thanks to my land, to Marsala, without my land today I would not be here, we must say that we are the future, we in Marsala have an unmistakable territory and so is all of Sicily. We therefore try to enhance it day after day, always doing our best."

At the end of the awards ceremony, the Mayor of Marsala, Alberto di Girolamo, congratulated Fabio Ferracane and through our press office sent a message to all the young people from Marsala who want to start a business: – “There are many job opportunities in Marsala, you have to believe in it, go out around the world to gain experience, with the desire to come back because it is possible to find or invent job opportunities in our city, a beautiful city that offers so much (…) and then agriculture is what is pulling the most at the moment (…)!”
